... Honeymoons in the UK rising in popularity Honeymoons in the UK rising in popularity

10 September 2008

Sometimes brides and grooms can get carried away with the romance of weddings and jetting off to foreign climes for their honeymoons.

But new research reveals that an increasing number of couples are staying in the UK for their post-wedding holidays.

Research from hitched.co.uk showed that more brides and grooms are realising that all they need is each other on their honeymoons.

An increasing number are realising the benefits of having their honeymoons in the various idyllic areas around the country.

Francesca Moore, PR and marketing executive at hitched.co.uk, said honeymoons do not have to be abroad to be memorable.

She said: "It's not a case of cutting down on honeymoon choices because people will always be willing to travel for this special occasion, but perhaps the type of honeymoon might play a factor in making the decision."

With the National Cost of a Wedding Survey showing that the average honeymoon costs £3,220, honeymoons at home could save British couples significant amounts of money.
