50% British Single women don't care if they get married

A recent survey has revealed the starting fact that over 50% of single British women claim they are NOT concerned about whether they’ll get ever get married. This contradicts the long held belief that the vast majority of single women long to get hitched and settled.

Choices for the western women compared to those that are denied to girls in the world’s poorest countries, where one in seven girls will become child brides by the age of 15 are highlighted by "The Choices For Girls" survey, commissioned by the charity "Plan UK".

Other key findings include:

- 79 % think it acceptable for women to propose

- 30 % would propose on any day of the year regardless of it being a leap year this year

- 72 % say they can make just as many choices as men when it comes to marriage

Marie Staunton, Plan UK ’s chief executive, says “"Most women in the West can decide if to marry, when to marry and who to marry. Millions of girls elsewhere have no choice." Adding that “An educated girl is more likely to be healthy and survive into adulthood. She’s less likely to marry and have children early"

"Giving girls choices is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. It is every girl’s right to choose if, when and who they marry, to choose what direction their life goes in and to choose to have an education.
