Couple buy first date island

A romantic Guernsey couple are now the new managers of the romantic island they had their first date on.

John Singer took his now wife Julia to a tiny Channel Island for dinner as their first date in 1994.
The pair were married later that year after Herm Island worked its magic on them.
But now the couple will be spending a lot more time there as 14 years later they are managers of the island after the charitable trust John works for bought it to save it from an uncertain future.
The 50 residents of the mile-and-a-half long island were fearful when its previous owners announced they were selling it.
But John and Julia will now move there from their home in Guernsey and have promised to maintain the unique charm that helped them fall in love.
John told the Daily Mail: "There must be something magical about it – after all, she has put up with me ever since."
