Couple take 22 year holiday
11 September 2007
A couple from Newark in Nottingham have been enjoying their honeymoon period for 22 years, during which they have lived in a Travelodge motel on the A1.
|
Both in their 70s, David and Jean Davidson have resided in two Travelodges over the period, the first being in Grantham.
The mammoth stay has earned the pair a room named the Davidson Suite, complete with plaque, and they claim it gives them peace of mind since they do not have bills to worry about.
The lovebirds book a year in advance, giving them the great rate of just £90 a week. Living in the motel costs them between £1,600 and £8,000 a year depending on room rates.
They dine either in the motel or at a nearby Little Chef.
And when they take a holiday from their motel room, they stay in other Travelodge branches.
Mr Davidson is quoted by the Metro as saying: "This is our home. We have everything we need here and the staff are like family now."
