Economy 'takes its toll' on search for love
12 June 2008
The dire economic situation in England and the US is taking its toll on the search for love, according to an expert.
|
In Britain, fuel prices are at ridiculously high levels, while homeowners are also facing the pressures of a badly-performing housing market and a weakened economy.
With cutbacks having to be made in luxury treats or indulgences, it seems that many singletons are putting off searching for love because they simply cannot afford it.
According to Orly, the world's most expensive matchmaker, who hails from California, the search for love is put on the backburner as Brits look to just get by.
She said: "While the current economy has not really had an effect on the wealthy elite, not every wealthy person cares.
"Most people are waiting for the recovery before they spend. Love will have to wait sometimes."
She added that it is only the people who are really searching for their perfect match that will make the effort to find him or her even when their finances are stretched.
