Finding a partner 'more difficult for overweight w
2 December 2008
Overweight women have a harder time finding love in the workplace than their slimmer counterparts.
|
That is according to the National Obesity Forum (NOF), which has suggested that there is a certain amount of prejudice towards larger ladies.
Tam Fry, spokesperson for the NOF, said that while it is not the case that overweight women will not be part of the dating game, as there will be men who will find them attractive, but it will nonetheless be more of a challenge
He explained: "It is proven that overweight women find it more difficult to attract a partner. That's not to say that they won't, a lot of men like big, fat cuddly women with lovehandles etc.
"They also will find problems in the workplace, because employers will know, first of all, that many of their clients will find fat women in the office unattractive."
Research by weightlossresources.co.uk found that over half of people who are worried about their weight believe that negative attitudes towards obesity should be treated in the same way as racism or sexism.
