The Maldives is the top honeymoon destination, according to newlyweds.

Hitched.co.uk puts the unfailing popularity of the archipelago down to its reliable weather and romantic appeal
.

Its over-the-water bungalows have made it famous the world over.

And it offers a great mix of seclusion, long, beautiful beaches and a place where there are few children around.

Another popular destination is the Far East, which is home to spectacular hotels and some great cities such as Dubai or Singapore.

Activity holidays are also taking off in a big way among newlyweds. Whether its white water rafting or hiking, many couples are branching out from the standard beach trip.

Francesca Moore, a spokesperson for hitched.co.uk, said: "Couples like seclusion, being on their own, long white sandy beaches, somewhere where there's not going to be a lot of children, where they can enjoy the first moments of their marriage."

Of the Far East, she said: "Luxury is a big thing in the Far East. If you're talking about your budget, your money goes a long way in the Far East too."ADNFCR-1043-ID-18370231-ADNFCR
