Internet dating 'accepted as best way of finding l
9 January 2009
The number of people who take the plunge and join internet dating sites doubles in January and the popularity of such services will only increase this year.
|
That is according to Angus Watson, who has said that there is no longer a "stigma" attached to internet dating.
Writing in the Telegraph, he even goes as far as to say that it will become "generally accepted as the best way of finding love".
Mr Watson makes the point that as long as people find a site that's suitable for them "online dating is as good a path to finding your soulmate as any".
He goes on to say that it is infinitely "more appealing than trawling bars", no doubt considering all the pitfalls that that entails.
Novices who may be unfamiliar with internet dating sites are even offered a list of tips which include making sure you are original, to stand out from the crowd.
People are also encouraged by him to be active and search out sites for someone they like, rather than waiting for someone to find you.
According to Forbes, the downturn in the economy is pushing people away from "traditional and expensive" ways of meeting people and are instead going online for love.
