Journalist proposes in column
28 October 2007
When Amanda Taccone, a web journalist got online one day to read her boyfriend's column, she got the surprise of her life when she got the last line.
|
At the bottom of his weekly piece, Dan Brown, editor of the London Free Press, had written: "Amanda, will you marry me?"
She immediately called him to give her acceptance, reports the paper.
She said of the proposal: "I knew it was coming, but I had no idea the when, the where and the how.
"I never expected it would be online or that it would be made this public. It's amazing how everyone found out so quickly."
The author of the column received congratulatory messages from as far away as Abu Dhabi and it received a number of online comments.
The groom-to-be said: "I thought that I could probably do a better job in print, than I could in person. It's really hard to boil your feelings down to just a few hundred words."
