... Leap year proposals Leap year proposals

4 December 2007

It is just a little over two months until the day on which it becomes women's turn to propose is upon us.

And to help them get their romantic thinking caps on, here are some recommended locations for a water-themed chance for them to pop the question to the men in their lives.

The Lake District is a great place for a getaway, whether it's a day trip, a weekend or a longer break.

One of the top romantic spots is the White Drawing Room, located just a mile from Bowness in Blackwell. It is decorated in keeping with the 19th century arts and crafts movement and is famous for its spectacular furnishings.

Although the date falls in wintry February, if the weather is nice, proposers may consider heading to the gardens at Rydal Mount. The former home of Wandsworth, it is located near Ambleside. And its gardens are said to be a true reflection of Romanticism which inspired the poet.

And for those prepared to splash the cash, a private charter is worth considering. The Applegarth Hotel, located close to Lake Windermere, is a great favourite and has four-poster beds and a Valentine's menu.

The chartered yachts are impressive, giving couples the chance to enjoy champagne on the deck and take in some fresh air before asking the question.ADNFCR-1043-ID-18381159-ADNFCR
