Learning lessons from love
11 September 2007
Learning lessons in your relationship and how to relate to your partner can make your love last and give you a better understanding about what's important in life.
This is the stance of Neil Rosenthal, a marriage and family therapist, who believes that learning these lessons are essential for a happy life
|
.
He gave some relationship tips to Vail Daily, to help couples strengthen their unions.
It can be useful to ask yourself what you need to do, and not do, to make the relationship work. Could you spend more quality time together, less time at work, or do more chores around the house?
Talking about arguments is better than withdrawing. Rather than putting up a barrier to solving problems, it is better to talk them through.
Recognising that anger is usually a symptom of hurt can help you to manage arguments better and get to their root faster.
Touch, according to Rosenthal, is the greatest aphrodisiac. It helps you get close and stay close, and it can keep the passion alive, in terms of affection as well as sex.
And finally, making your partner feel cherished is essential. If they do not feel that, then as a pair you will be less intimately connected.
