... Make-up for men Make-up for men

31 July 2008

Britain could see a huge boost in the number of men wearing make-up as a leading retail begins to stock it's 'guy-liner' and 'manscara'.

Celebrities such as Russell Brand are helping to change the view of make-up as a weapon only for women and transvestites to use.

An increasing number of metrosexuals are boosting demand for the product and Superdrug is hoping to cash in the newfound interest.

Its Taxi Man range hitting the high street this week is set to make it more acceptable for men to pop in and buy the same products as women in order to enhance their features.

Jeff Wemyss, company director for Superdrug, said: "These days you can be macho and wear make-up. If you look at people like Russell Brand and Robbie Williams, they both wear make-up and they are both very red-blooded men.

"Men are more obsessed with their appearance than ever before. There is no longer any pain in being seen to be vain."

Mr Wemyss added that women buying for their partners will help to boost the market as they pick up some guy-liner or man-scara for their other halves when they pop into the shop to buy their own products.
