Men 'love strong, independent women'

Modern man loves a woman who can stand up to him and take control of the household finances, according to a poll.
The Ideal Home Show this year created an updated version of the 1950s Good Wife Guide and found that men's longing for a submissive wife is a thing of the past.

Today's men prefer headstrong women who are not afraid to speak their mind and also not afraid to take control.
Women should also eat healthy portions, like having the odd drink and should also not mind if their man takes time out to see his male friends.
But it seems that things have not changed that drastically, with 48 per cent citing good cooking skills as a top asset for a potential partner.
Maxine Soghmanian, organiser of the Ideal Home Show, said: "The 1955 Good Wife Guide has given us a good laugh, and discovering the 2008 equivalent has been interesting – it's amazing to see how much we have changed since it was written.
"Home life has changed so much in the 100 years and the Show has been through it all.
The survey also found some misconceptions in the way women think men feel.
Around 41 per cent of women said they thought men cannot stand the question 'does my bum look big in this', but just 24 per cent of men said it bothered them.
