Men more willing to put their hands in their pocke
10 November 2007
Women are less willing to support a partner financially who is out of work.
While 21 per cent of the men who are the main breadwinner are happy with their situation, only six per cent of women who bring home the bacon are happy for their partner not to contribute financially

.
But at present, men are twice as likely to be the position of sole financial supporter, according to research by Engage Mutual.
And men are more prepared to fund the luxury lifestyles of the women in their lives. Three quarters of men would pay for their partner's social life and beauty treatments, compared to around 60 per cent of women.
Karl Elliott, spokesman for Engage Mutual, said: "This research shows that at a time when equal opportunities for women in the workplace are high on the public agenda, men are not likely to have the same experience as women should they choose not to work."
