... No chat in Japanese romance No chat in Japanese romance

28 November 2007

Japanese couples are failing to communicate.

A huge 40 per cent of married couples do not speak to each other for more than 30 minutes in a day, a poll by Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance revealed
.

A link was made between talking and affection. A third of couples who talk for under half an hour a day had no affection or love for their spouse.

Age was found to affect how much couples chat to one another. Those in their 40s talk the least.

And the effect of this is evident as it is those married in excess of 20 years who are the fastest growing demographic in the Japanese divorce market.

Divorce is on the rise in the country, as women tire of putting up with these communicationless, loveless marriages.

Dr Kim Myong-gan, a relationship therapist, told the Telegraph: "One problem among many Japanese men is that fairly soon after they get married, they begin to see their wives as their mothers, there to cook and clean for them."ADNFCR-1016-ID-18373917-ADNFCR
