Online dating popularity rises
25 February 2008
An increasing number of Britons are turning to online dating in their quest to find love, according to a new survey.
|
Research conducted by consumer website which.co.uk revealed that, of those who joined a dating site, three fifths have met someone since registering.
One in five revealed they have either got married to someone who met online or knows someone else who has.
Malcolm Coles, editor of which.co.uk, said: "It might be worth giving online dating a go - impressively almost three quarters of the people we spoke to have had some level of success with someone they met online.
"Like any other purchase, though, users should remember to shop around to find the best site to suit their needs and take care with any personal information that they reveal."
Which.co.uk also provided potential daters with a number of handy tips, including choosing a memorable username since this is the first thing that other users notice, and don't be scared to make the first move.
