Sheffield women 'take least pride' in appearance
12 September 2008
Sheffield women have been named and shamed as the worst dressed in the country in a new survey.
|
Women living in the area were found to care the least about what they wear, with 53 per cent saying they do not give two hoots about fashion.
Around 16 per cent of respondents were so clueless about the fashion industry that they thought Cheryl Cole was an actress.
Sheffield has replaced Plymouth as having the worst dressed women in the country, following the study of 4,502 British females.
Just 27 per cent said they take pride in their appearance, with those in Middlesbrough spending the least on fashion.
Fashion-conscious London females were unsurprisingly found to be the country's most fashion-conscious, with 79 per cent of them saying they take pride in their appearance.
Jill Tovey, head fashionista at mycelebrityfashion.co.uk, which carried out the study, said: "We conducted the study as we thought it would be a bit of fun, but also highlight the areas in which to market, based on public perception there of fashion.
"We plan to conduct the same survey annually, and are committed to helping the public follow the best fashion trends and steal their favourite celebrity's style. After all, celebrities are the public face of fashion, and are often trend-setters themselves."
