Singletons seek out exes at Xmas, research reveals
23 December 2008
Christmas should be a time of celebration and reminiscing as people return to their family homes and remember past occasions and, according to new research, this means revisiting past relationships as well.
|
According to Female First who quoted research by DatingDirect.com, a fifth of singles questioned in their survey admitted to making plans to meet up with an ex and a further 15 per cent said they might make efforts to try and locate their former lovers.
It seems that these encounters could lead to something more than mere friendship as well.
Statistics reveal that more than a third of singletons in the UK have had at least one romantic reunion with an ex-beau over Christmas.
Perhaps more shockingly, some 19 per cent of those questioned confessed to ending up between the sheets with an ex and have woken on Christmas morning with them, which might be hard to explain away over breakfast.
The research seems to suggest that hooking up with exes or seeking them out may not always lead to a happy ending.
If the statistics are a true reflection of Briton's singletons it would appear that we are a quite a sentimental bunch when it comes to our exes.
Some 11 per cent of those questioned said it would ruin their night if they discovered their ex had a partner and 35 per cent claimed they would be disappointed to hear their old flame had found someone new.
Female First quoted Alistair Shrimpton, managing director at DatingDirect.com, as saying: “It’s one thing to have a bit of festive fun with an ex this Christmas, but getting back with an ex is dangerous territory."
While it seems those questioned in the survey have no problem with their libido, there are apparently, according to Tayohealing.com, couples who at certain times in their relationship need some recharging.
The website recommends people spend time with each other and learn to relax by taking a bath tog
