Swan love flourishes after pedalo romance
17 December 2007
A swan who fell in love with a pedal boat, making international headlines, has finally fallen for a creature of her own kind.
|
Named Petra, the loved-up swan has now found a young male swan to fulfil her romantic wants at a zoo in Germany.
She previously spent her days gazing at a pedal boat and used to make crooning noises in its direction.
When winter came, she refused to fly off with the other birds and instead stayed with her lover. So as not to upset Petra, boat keepers decided not to take the boat out of the water so she could spend the winter with it.
But she has now dumped the boat and moved on and it is hoped she has found a long-lasting partner in the male swan.
Joerg Adler, a keeper at the zoo where the birds are currently residing, is quoted by IOL as saying: "they swim together and eat together. They are virtually inseparable."
