... Women can't get enough of glossy mags Women can't get enough of glossy mags

12 August 2008

Women's magazines are the nation's favourite read of choice and the loo is one of the favourite locations to read, according to a new poll.

A survey conducted by magazinesbymail.net revealed the nation's reading habits by analysing UK magazine subscription figures.

It found that one in three people love reading on the lavatory while 52 per cent of people cannot resist a good bedtime read.

Parents grab a few minutes to read while waiting for their children on the school run, the survey found, with dads escaping for some peace and quiet and a good read in the shed.

It seems the UK's women just cannot live without the dating, fashion and health advice they find in women's magazines.

Meanwhile, house and home titles were next in line, followed by magazines about computers, cars and country titles.

Football titles were the most popular among sports enthusiasts, but people were more likely to fill out a subscription for rugby magazines.

Nicola Rowe from magazinesbymail.net said "The survey reveals some marked variations in reading habits across the UK. However, it's clear that whatever the subject, and wherever the chosen reading place may be, millions of people choose to keep up to date with their hobbies and interests by subscribing to a copy of their favourite magazine."
