Women find pets 'more affectionate' than men
25 November 2008
More than half of women believe their pooches or moggies are more affectionate than the men in their lives, according to new research.
|
A study by Petplan revealed 56 per cent of women feel they get more love from their pets than their significant others.
It seems female pet owners are in a love affair with their animals as 99 per cent said they talk to them frequently and 93 per cent believe their pets communicate with them.
Men feel slightly less connected to their pets with 98 per cent of them saying they communicate with their animals, website SFS Gate reports.
Some 45 per cent of women said their pets were cuter than their partners, according to the report.
The survey of 1,105 pet parents found that people really do value their furry friends.
Separate figures show 44 per cent of Americans plan to shop for their pet or pets of close friends and family this Christmas.
Jason Rapp, CEO of Gifts.com, which undertook the research, said: "The results of our survey, while somewhat surprising given the economic climate, give us confidence in this holiday season.
"Although many Americans are working more and making less, when it comes to the Holidays, people still want to give their friends and family gifts they will love and remember."
